The gist of it is that you call a number and book a test. TIP: the wait in HRM is long compared to the rest of the province. So you can ask to do the test in a another access NS location, such as Kentvile or Sacvile. As long as you don't min the drive there.

In order to get a NS driver license you have to pass 2 tests

1) The written test

2) Driving test

The first thing you need is to get a translation of your existing driver license at ISANS.

You will not be able to do the tests without it.

You should do the intake interview with ISANS before the start of the driver license process.

The RMV (registry of motor vehicles) takes ISANS translations with no problems. Translations from the country of origin may cause you a delay. The translation is 10$ at ISANS.

Once you have that - head to the nearest Acces Nova Scotia ([1]Locations) with your ID (Passport or Nova scotia ID if you have it already) and your drivers license and translation.

Pay for the tests, pass the tests and happy days - you're half way there.

After this you need to pay for the road test(online or in access NS). It is advisable to do that while you pay for the written exam. Since you're already there.

One thing to know - to do the test you have to own a car and that car to be insured.

Please refer to the Buying first car for details on that

Once paid - there are instructions on the receipt.
